DUSHANBE, April 8, 2016, 2016, Asia-Plus – An air route between the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, and the Pakistani city of Lahore will be launched on May 7.
Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Tareeq Iqbal Soomro stated this on April 8 while addressing a ceremony of an official opening of Made in Pakistan Exhibition in Dushanbe.
The air route will promote further development of trade between the two countries, Pakistani diplomat noted.
According to him, Tajik private air carrier, Somon Air, will operate flights between Dushanbe and Lahore.
We will recall that during the visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Pakistan in November last year, the two countries' leadership stressed the need to strengthen transit and transportation through enhanced cooperation at the regional level.
An agreement on direct air communication between Tajikistan and Pakistan was signed in 2010.
