Massoud Barzani, president of the autonomous Kurdish region in Northern Iraq, comes to Turkey today.

Hürriyet daily newspaper reports that during his visit Barzani was going to hold meetings with President Abdullah Gül, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.

He will meet also Iraqi Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi who is in Turkey. Hürriyet reminds that Iraq had issued arrest warrant for Hashimi over his alleged involvement in acts of terror.

Vatan daily newspaper says that Barzani was coming to Turkey to discuss the PKK issue.

Hürriyet says that the Kurdish conference to be held in Arbil would be high on the agenda of Barzani’s talks in Ankara. At the conference, the regional Kurdish administration of Northern Iraq is expected to announce its decision to distance itself from PKK unless the terror organization lays down its weapons. At the conference the Kurdish administration also is expected to issue calls for dialogue to build security and tranquility in the region.

According to Hürriyet, PKK works hard for the conference. Basing itself on unofficial information, Hürriyet says thatAnkara was in favor of the conference which is expected to lead to the isolation of PKK.
